MF Marshall Dillon

Dillon arrived from Texas in November 2003.  Dillon was born August 15, 2002 and has "the look" we were after the first year but didn't find... so now that he is old enough, he will be the proud papa of our mini donkeys.  He is also VERY personable and loves attention - in fact, if I don't give my handsome boy lovins first AND last when I go out to the pen, he gets upset with me and gives me the "cold shoulder" - literally!  He actually looks right at me and then turns his head away and refuses to come to the fence and visit.  I have to make a big fuss over him to get him to stop pouting.

He has a lot to say!

The girls turned the minis out into the arena for exercise and let the pony Skeye out with them so they don't forget each other.  Skeye is stabled with the big horses because she is too tall for the shades on the mini pens, but she is part of the pony rides and must trailer safely with the minis.  Dillon fell head over heels!

Once Skeye was tired of running, he went for the kiss!

But as you can see, she sure wore him out!

I can't take Dillon on most of our visits because when the girls are around, he forgets how to behave... but when the request came in to bring a donkey to several elementary schools for the principal to kiss (as the kids' reward for meeting their fundraising goals), Dillon was my obvious choice.  We visited three schools on two days and it was tons of fun!  At Sevilla, after several kisses, the principal asked if any of the teachers wanted to kiss the donkey... and the kids went wild!  So about a dozen teachers also got in on the kisses...

At Melvin Sine the principal was a man, but Dillon was a good sport!

and at Copper King the principal told the kids she hoped he would turn into a prince...

but of course as we all know by now, he already IS a prince!!

Dillon is also our only donkey that I have seen “sitting” like a dog… unfortunately, I NEVER have the camera when he does it!
