DOC’S MISS FIRST EDITION
“Foxglove”
I believe this little horse is Cricket’s gift to me… it was only a few months after we lost Cricket (Jasmine’s full sister one year younger, a bay pinto like Impatiens) that I got a call from a friend (THANK YOU JEAN) about an ad she had seen for a mini. She had made a preliminary call and found out that the owner’s husband had cancer and their situation was such that they needed to sell their miniature horse. Long story short the arrangements were made and when they brought her to the ranch and gave me her papers, we were shocked to discover that she was ALSO Jasmine’s full sister, one year older, and a bay pinto like Cricket and Impatiens… of all the horses in this state it was just incredible to me that I should come across another sister like this!
Foxy, as we call her, is an awesome visit horse… she has no fear of walking right up to a bedridden person to be petted, even squeezing between two beds where she visits on each side and then has to back out to go on to the next people… and while at The Forum at Desert Harbor, when the activities director was told we had a mini who would visit bedsides, she replied that they had two stories and asked if Foxy would go in the elevator. I had no idea so I said, “Let’s go see”, and Foxy walked up to the elevator, watched the doors open, looked carefully at that shiny silver track and, when asked, lifted her feet WAY up to step over it and in she went. I had a moment of panic when the doors shut and thought “Oh boy, wait till this thing starts to move…” but it didn’t even phase her! What an experience!!
